Getting "Buy In" From Teens
- Students need to see you practicing mindfulness. If you play a guided meditation for them and then busy yourself grading papers or answering emails this tells them that you believe mindfulness isn't a good use of your time. If you want to get "buy-in" from teens, it starts with you. Practice with your students using one of these guided mindful sits from the Mindful Life Project on Soundcloud (they have an app too and it is free).
- Try a little reverse psychology. Use this TEDxYouth video to highlight the message that something awesome is being kept from them that others (celebrities, pro athletes and highly successful CEOs) are taking advantage of. Get my TED Talk graphic organizer here.
- Teach them about their brains while appealing to their admiration of celebrity in this Hyperdoc lesson that I created on the subject of mindfulness.

I have ordered this book for my teen and will update this post when I have reviewed it (even better if I can get her to).
