Knowing

"Stella once teased me that elephants are more superior because they feel more joy and more grief than apes."

"Right now I would give all of the yogurt raisins in all of the world for a heart made of ice."

Can animals be sad, depressed, lonely, bored, or jealous? Are these human emotions that we project on them? Is it convenient for us to believe that animals don't feel the same way that we experience pain, sadness, grief, or joy? Why?

If you do feel that animals feel genuine emotions what implications might that have? Do all animals feel these emotions or is this ability connected to intelligence? What evidence has led you to this conclusion? Read this article about the brain of a killer whale to give you some insight.

I have included a link to koko.org. It is an article and video about a San Francisco gorilla, Koko, that can communicate through sign language and it shows her reaction to the news that her good friend Robin Williams had died. Have your views on animals feeling emotions changed?

Animals can have the same emotions and/or feelings as humans because no matter what we are we are still alive and we still have a heart.

Yes I think they have feelying because anything that has a heart has feeling. In the artical it says that animals are almost like human they can breath and think just like us. That is why I think they have feelings.

Animals can have the same emotions and/or feelings as humans because no matter what we are we are still alive and we still have a heart. To prove this In the book Ivan said that he did not like his cage and he also he said he was ''bored''one night and that is an emotion.

As a gorilla they have mostly the same feelings as humans in the book ivan knows how to take care of ruby so in real life gorillas like koko know what to do with humans they are really alike because they do mostly the same things just that gorillas cant talk they can learn how to use sign language.

dont think that koko should get better respect.

Yes, animals can be sad, happy, bored etc. or just like have emotions, because like in the Koko video when Robin Williams came Koko loved it because it was the first time Koko smiled in over 6 months. And gorillas can be sad because in the koko video when robin williams died Koko was very sad like an example was his quivering lip and the sombering after he heard the news. Also like in the Ivan book Ivan was sad when Stella died too. Stella was sad when she saw Ruby coming because she knows what she will have to go through and it is not good.

Yes animals also have feeling, I know this because in the video with Koko and Robin Williams they were playing with each other and koko was very happy that she was laughing just like Robert Williams. Also when koko wanted to be tickled she did something to let him know that she wanted to be tickled. Also they have feelings because they are living things like us.

He promises to get Stella back to her home so she is not in the mall and animals have the same emotions as humans he is going to try to get Stella out of the cage that they are in because it is not a good place to be I think this because no animal or person would want to be in a cage .

Gorilla's have emotions just like humans, because they are living things and we all have feelings. Koko the gorilla uses sign-language to express her feelings to her peers. Sometimes Koko feels happy, sad, joyful, playful, angry, thirsty, hungry, depressed, lonely or bored. I don't think humans project their feelings onto other animals, I think animals feel that way all on their own with the life experiences that they encounter. It is convenient for humans to believe/or ignore that animals have feelings and emotions, so they can continue to treat them the way they do, and not feel guilty about it.

I think that animals do have feelings. I think this because when Stella died all of the animals showed feelings for Stella.

I think that animals have feelings because I have a pet dog and when he left his best friend he cried and cried. Gorilla's are very advanced creatures. They are so smart people believe we evolved from them. They have emotions and culture and live like humans in a way. They show feelings all the time and will sacrifice their lives for their loved ones.

I think that animals do have feelings and can feel sad, angry and anything else humans can but I think that animals show it in a different way but they are living creatures; let me ask you this if you saw a animal get hurt lets say hit by a car and you could see that it was scared in pain, and hurt then you would know that animals can feel the way people feel, because if you got hit by a car and you were scared and in pain that animal is feeling the same way.

Yes, for sure, animals do have feelings. The same feelings as humans, they feel sad, happy, excited, angry, and so much more! But they show it differently and don't really show their emotions on the outside.
