Process for Canada Express Entry Immigration Program

Process for Canada Express Entry Immigration Program

Express Entry is a selection process for people seeking Canadian immigration. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), launched Express Entry in January 2015 to allow permanent residence (PR), in Canada, for foreigners. This system was created to help select skilled workers for Canada immigration. Express Entry is an online process that involves Canadian employers, province governments, and the federal government.

Canada Express Entry Process

Candidates who want to obtain permanent settlement in Canada Express Entry must follow a few steps.

Step 1

Express Entry Criteria for Eligibility

Two ways can a candidate find out if he/she is eligible for Express Entry.

  • Answering a few questions like:
  • Nationality
  • Age
  • Education
  • Family members
  • Language proficiency
  • Working Experience
  • Information about any job
  • You can learn the specific standards for every program, such as:
  • Canadian Experience Class
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • Federal Skilled Worker Visa Immigration Program

Step 2:

Documents are required

Express Entry requires that candidates submit certain documents at different stages of the application process.

The following documents are required to complete a candidate’s profile:

  • Document of travel or passport.
  • Final results of the language test
  • If a candidate is applying for the Federal Skilled Workers Visa, or if he or she wishes to receive a point on his/her education if it was completed outside Canada, he or she will need an educational certification.
  • If the candidate is able to provide one, a Canadian-based employer will send a job offer.
  • If the candidate is eligible, he/she can nominate a provincial candidate.

A candidate for permanent residence must also have the following documents:

  • Police certificates
  • Medical exams
  • Funds evidence

Step 3

Submission of Profile

To be eligible for Canada Express Entry, applicants must submit their profile and attach all required documents.

Step 4

Apply for Permanent Residence via Express Entry

After the submission of the profile, the candidate will be invited to apply for permanent residency. This includes

  • Filling an Online Form
  • All Documents can be scanned and uploaded
  • Payment of a fee (permanent residency fee and biometrics fees).
  • Submitting an Express Entry Application

Step 5:

Approval of the Application

After the application has been approved, the candidate will be provided with

  • Confirmation of Permanent Resident (COPR).
  • Resident visa (permanent)

The final interview is conducted by authorities. After the interview is completed, it is recommended that the candidate seek immigrant services upon arrival in Canada to allow them to settle down and live in accordance with Canadian laws and regulations.

Provincial Nominee Programs, (PNP).

Each province has its own requirements for naming individuals who want to immigrate to Canada. Some PNPs align with the Federal Express Entry system. Express Entry has sent 325,968 invitations to apply (ITA) to Canadian PR since its inception. This was over the course of 133 Express Entry draws.

Popular PNP Programs

Multiple Provincial Nominee Programs are available to provinces in order to facilitate their own immigration nominee programs. At the start of PNP stream, only 233 people were allowed to Canada in 1996. This number has risen to 61,000 by 2019, a target that was set for 2019. Canada could see as many as 213,000 permanent residents in the PNP over the next three-years.

These are our top picks from the PNP program;

  • British Columbia (PNP).
  • Saskatchewan (PNP)
  • Nova Scotia (PNP).
  • Ontario (PNP)

Selection through these streams in PNPs is largely based on what are called human capital factors such as work experience and language proficiency. Saskatchewan had a minimum score of 67 to issue an ITA (Invitation To Apply) under two programs. British Columbia’s minimum score was 75 – 105, and Ontario’s minimum score 400 – 478.
